學(xué)校概況
倫敦政治經(jīng)濟學(xué)院（LSE）在英國獨樹(shù)一幟，是唯一將教學(xué)與科研集中在社會(huì )、政治、經(jīng)濟科學(xué)領(lǐng)域的頂尖學(xué)校。學(xué)院于1900年成為倫敦大學(xué)University of London的一部分，今天的LSE是倫敦大學(xué)最大的學(xué)院之一。目前學(xué)生總人數超過(guò)7000名，其中約一半為來(lái)自150個(gè)國家的海外留學(xué)生；LSE擁有一個(gè)龐大的海外學(xué)生團體，校友包括國會(huì )議員、貴族議會(huì )議員、26位世界各國政府現任或歷屆首相。

LSE位于倫敦市中心國會(huì )大廈（著(zhù)名的Big Ben）旁，介于西區與金融城之間，大英圖書(shū)館、倫敦大學(xué)議會(huì )圖書(shū)館近在咫尺，距離該學(xué)院不到一英里就是主要的政府、法律、金融和傳媒中心所在地---這些機構才是該學(xué)院“真正”的研究對象。LSE共有18個(gè)系、26個(gè)研究中心或研究所，開(kāi)設有經(jīng)濟、數學(xué)與統計、歷史、法律、哲學(xué)等多種社會(huì )科學(xué)專(zhuān)業(yè)。LSE在經(jīng)濟學(xué)領(lǐng)域曾有五名諾貝爾獎獲得者，發(fā)展了最具權威的經(jīng)濟理論,許多對全球政治、經(jīng)濟、社會(huì )發(fā)展有影響的思想、政治體系均源于LSE。

LSE圖書(shū)館——英國政治經(jīng)濟科學(xué)圖書(shū)館是學(xué)校的工作用圖書(shū)館，同時(shí)也是全英研究資料收集中心、世界上最大的經(jīng)濟和社會(huì )科學(xué)圖書(shū)館之一，館內共藏400萬(wàn)冊社科開(kāi)架圖書(shū)以及專(zhuān)業(yè)課程教材可供學(xué)生借閱；學(xué)生可以使用超過(guò)550臺計算機，其中大部分全天24小時(shí)開(kāi)放；超過(guò)90個(gè)學(xué)生俱樂(lè )部為學(xué)生提供多樣的社交、體育與文化興趣活動(dòng)。另外，作為倫敦大學(xué)的一員，全體學(xué)生都可以享用倫敦大學(xué)的設施，包括醫療和牙科、咨詢(xún)服務(wù)；學(xué)生會(huì )擁有酒吧、咖啡館、健身館和游泳池。
 
學(xué)院特色
1、LSE的學(xué)位證書(shū)的學(xué)位證書(shū)由倫敦大學(xué)University of London頒發(fā)，某些學(xué)位課程也與倫敦大學(xué)的其他學(xué)院聯(lián)合開(kāi)設。
2、LSE作為世界領(lǐng)先的社會(huì )經(jīng)濟研究中心之一，在以往的教學(xué)品質(zhì)評估中，LSE的經(jīng)濟歷史、信息系統、法律和社會(huì )政策等專(zhuān)業(yè)均獲“Excellent優(yōu)秀”，在最近的研究評估中，LSE有13個(gè)領(lǐng)域獲得5分或5*的好成績(jì)。在2003年英國Times大學(xué)評選中，總體排名第四。
 
LSE是歐洲管理學(xué)院委員會(huì )（CEMS）的成員，就讀管理類(lèi)本科可攻讀更高的CEMS碩士學(xué)歷，并在另一歐洲國家完成部分學(xué)習和實(shí)習。LSE有270萬(wàn)英鎊的入學(xué)獎學(xué)金支持特別優(yōu)秀的學(xué)生，還有專(zhuān)門(mén)針對中國學(xué)子的“中英友好獎學(xué)金”（針對攻讀博士研究學(xué)位）以及“渣打銀行獎學(xué)金”（針對攻讀碩士學(xué)位），名額有限。
 

入學(xué)條件
最低英文成績(jì)要求：
本科：雅思7.0或托福627（機考263），或劍橋英語(yǔ)水平考試證書(shū)
碩士：雅思6.5或托福603（機考250），法律類(lèi)課程則需雅思7或托福627（機考263）
部分課程甚至要求GRE或GMAT分數研究碩士/博士：持有相關(guān)碩士學(xué)位者
碩士： 大學(xué)相關(guān)本科畢業(yè)，GPA至少3.5（總分4分）
本科： 重點(diǎn)高中畢業(yè)優(yōu)秀學(xué)生；大學(xué)一二年級優(yōu)秀生可插讀LSE二年級。
 
 
Introduction to the LSE 
 
One of the UK's more high-powered academic institutions, the London School of Economics is hard to get into and enjoys an international reputation. The Webbs founded it in 1895 to promote "the study and advancement of Economics or Political Economy, Political Science or Political Philosophy, Statistics, Sociology, History, Geography, and any subject cognate to any of these", thanks to the will of a rich Fabian, Henry Hunt Hutchinson. Its social purposes were based on those of American and continental schools and universities where political, social and economic problems were seen as ripe for study.
The LSE's courses still reflect its origins: among those that enjoy a particularly good reputation are accounting and finance, law, economics and international relations. It is a breeding ground for politicians, and has arguably done more to shape the political world than any other university: as well as countless MPs, LSE has educated world leaders including John F Kennedy.
LSE's location in the heart of London makes it a powerful draw to overseas students: in 1997/98, 61% of students came from overseas. It is close to the City of London, the West End and Soho. But beware, living in London is expensive.
